You will need a free software package called audacity. This is a wonderful programme that you can use to record and edit audio. It allows you to cut and paste a sound recording as easily as working with a Word documents in Windows. audacity is available on the following website: http://audacity.sourceforge.net

Once you have downloaded audacity, you can find a BBC Radio programme on the website and use audacity to record it either as an MP3 file or a wave file.

First find the radio programme and put it on pause. Then call up audacity and make sure that the drop-down menu in the top right-hand corner is set to Record Master. Then click the red record button in audacity just before you take the programme off pause.

After you have recorded the programme in audacity, click on File and then click on either Export as WAV or Export as MP3 in the drop-down menu. Give the file a name and then it will be saved in audacity.
